What is the best type of tennis racket for a beginner?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under tennis racket | 9 Comments »

I don’t want a tennis racket that is expensive because I am still a beginner but I do want one that is good quality. I went to Wal-Mart(this was only because I wanted a cheap one–I’m not yet sure if I will want to continue) and had no clue to which type is considered good quality. What are certain things you look for in a good racket? Please help me out!

Try a few out in the store lol… I did. and decide which feels right. I had the same problem when I started and I too when to Wal Mart lol but like I said just try them out and pick the one that feels right

It shouldn’t be heavy it has to light to where you can swing it and it won’t your shoulder or what not also it has to hit good too lol (of course).

Also there different handles for me I like the ones with cushion. Also get the one where the Handel and racket part are a one piece because once I had one that wasn’t and it broke!

But just find one that’s for you and only you lol because I once tried my brothers racket (which is smaller and doesn’t have cushion – because I forgot mine) and I couldn’t play right at all… it was hard!!!

I would buy Wilson (one with a larger head) …thats what I have and LOVE!!!

But I hope you find one and good luck with tennis it a blast!!!

Can you use a Wilson Shock Trap on a Wilson nCode N5 OS Tennis Racket?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under wilson ncode | 2 Comments »

So, I am probably just being paranoid but I just bought a brand new Wilson nCode N5 and along with that I bought a Wilson Shock Trap Shock Absorber. Now I am just wondering if I should have gotten the nCode Shock absorber, or if this one will work, even though it is really tight on the strings to the point of where it is hard to get on. Is it bad that it is putting pressure on the strings to the point where they move a little bit where I put the absorber on, or is it supposed to do that? Now was I even supposed to get anything other then the nCode shock absorber in the first place? Or is it O.K that I just got the normal Wilson Shock Trap for it. It’s an odd question but I don’t want something weird to happen to a $220 racket. :) Thanks!

No, you can use whatever brand you want. It doesn’t matter at all. Shock absorbers dampen the feel of the vibrations when you hit the ball. Also, all dampeners are hard to get on. It’s like that with all rackets. Don’t worry, it won’t affect the strings at all. Do not worry if you break your strings, too. You get your rackets restrung for about 15 bucks, and it’s a good thing b/c it means you’re spinning the ball.

Are there any stores that sell pink tennis rackets for kids?

I have a 1997 Ford Explorer and I want to buy a sound system with loud bass and everything. What can I buy without going overboard on the price. I also don’t want to change the dashoard and I do have a 6 disc changer inside the center arm rest console. Would I be able to put the controller there? Thanks!

how loud u want to go?
4 ch. amp to power 2 new front speakers (or use 1 channel of the amp) and a sub in a slim box made for trucks… wedge box ported and tuned to your sub. go with a 10 at least.

How important is surround sound for a gaming headset?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under surround | 2 Comments »

I am looking into getting a gaming headset for my PS3. I was planning on getting a TurtleBeach EarForce P21 but that is Stereo. I was wondering how important surround sound is for a gaming headset, like how much of a difference does it make?

It probably will make a difference if you are playing FPSs for being able to listen to where footsteps or shots came from.

What’s the difference between car speakers and home speakers? Can car speaker drivers be used at home?

Can car speaker drivres be used to design and build home speaker systems with good results? What’s the sonic difference between them?

well car speakers sound a whole lot better simply because they have less air to move inside your car, then say your living room.i think you should be able to use car speakers in your home theater its that youll need to have a speakerbox and match the impendance or else its no use to have one in your house.but you can design them to be used at home.it should sound the same if not better…as i said before your car has a lot less air then your living room causing the subwoofer to sound amazing in your car…and sometimes crappy in your living room.

What kind of home theater system should i purchase?

I currently have a samsung (HCN653W) TV and am looking for a home theater system to hook up to it. I am looking for a system that is around $500. This should include the receiver and speakers. I only want it to be Dolby 5.1 and want to be able to hook up a dvd player, my tv, and possibly a blu-ray player for the future. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I also do not want wireless speakers. I only hear bad comments about wireless.

Ugh! That thing is huge! I had to really dig for a pic of it & find it’s specs. Anyway, at best it’s highest resolution is 1080i. It’s actually outdated by a couple of years. My recommendation is the link below. It gives you everything you asked for including Blu-ray. It should work well w/ your TV. It’s twice of what you wanted in your budget, but in this day & age these toys are getting more expensive. $500 would not have given you anything decent in terms of quality. Shop around a bit & see if you can’t find that system at a better price. I do recommend you buy from these folks b/c they back up everything they sell 100%. I order from them all the time. Even if I find an item at a better price elsewhere. Their customer service & shipping speed is hard to beat. G’luck!

How can I make speakers attatched to my laptop louder?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under speakers | 2 Comments »

I have a new laptop and I am trying to attach a pair of 125 watt speakers into the audio jack. I got 16 gauge wire, a super high-quality audio connector, which I soldered to the speaker wire. The whole thing is set up now and sounds great, but the 125 watt speakers can’t even go as loud as the internal notebook speakers. I have the system volume turned up to the maximum and there is not a volume control on the speaker units. Any ideas?

Sounds like the speakers aren’t preamped. The signal coming off your computer isn’t enough watts to push the speakers to high volume.

Computer headphone jacks usually push about 10-15 watts: WAAAY less than 125! You are going to need a preamp or a receiver. I’ve got my computer hooked up to my Pioneer receiver (via the headphone jack and a Monster cable that’s headphones on one side and RCA on the other – hooked up to the aux input on the receiver). The receiver is amping the sound so my 250-watt home theater speakers sound amazing!

Any audio amp/receiver with an aux in will work fine, and you can pick them up pretty cheap now.

Good luck!

How do you hook up a home theatre system to your computer or ipod?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under home theatre | 1 Comment »

Basically, how do you convert the output a home theatre system uses to a 1/4 inch headphone jack

For your computer, it would depend. Assuming you have a 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack for your computer/iPod, then all it would require is a cable with a male 1/8" plus and two male RCA jacks. Easily obtainable from any electronics store. If your computer has optical out / coax out, and your home theater supports that, then that’s a possible connection too.
For the iPod, there are also docks that you can put your ipod on which will have female rca jacks or maybe coax/optical that you can hook into your home theater system.

Edit: And for that 1/4 jack, that’s USUALLY a headphone out, meaning you plug headphones into it, not your iPod. If it is a rare case where it is a 1/4 in, then you can buy a 1/8 to 1/4 converter.

Is it possible to get a surround sound home theatre amplifier with a built in AM/FM radio tuner anywhere?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under surround sound | 3 Comments »

Hello ppl. I know many people don’t bother reading this, but for sound enthusiasts looking to help a novice with a big pocketbook and a desparate need to upgrade his system, I represent a client looking to upgrade his 25 year old system.

He says he wants it to come with a remote control like his TV, Will work with his old speakers he says he loves too much to part with, and wants to listen to the stereo through the sound system.

Low wattage is OK, It will be used to amplify sound from high definition DVD viewing, HD TV, and projecting the video image. All of these components have already been ordered.

He’s only after a 7.1 channel amp/receiver, a sub woofer, a tweeter, and 4 simple, medium quality, small speakers to create the surround sound effect. It is my job to find this.

His hope is that it will cost under AU$400 for all this sound equipment, but I told him that the amp on it’s own would be more than $400 AUD.

Who is right?

for a really low end you could get a HTIB. Your budget amounts to $350 US, not much to work with. If he really likes his old system and it still works fine just keep it somewhere else and continue to use it.

Trying to re eq a speaker set up with old speakers is asking for a muddied sound stage, most good systems use the exact same speaker for each channel.

You want to use timbre’ ( pronounced tam-ber) matched sets of speakers from the same manufacture.

I recommend getting separate components so you can individually pick the right system. Depending on his room size and configuration if you are set on 7.1 make sure to use the correct types of rear speakers bi or di pole depending on the application.

He will want to work with a Home theater Designer to audition equipment. A $350 dollar budget is laughable at best for a good 7.1 system.

I also recommend some reading material for you to consider. Set a budget and see what is out there, ideally you would have waited to get the video portion until after you had seen what audio was out there.
