What reasons would computer speakers stop working?

I’ve read a little bit on the internet about it and the only things it mentions is the sound card or adding a new program. (Before you say anything, I know it’s not the speakers themselves, they work on my cousin’s computer just fine.)

I did install a new program, but how the heck would I know if that is the problem? And how would I go about fixing it?

If it’s the sound card, again, how would I know this and how do I fix it?

check basic connections,wires, then go to control panels and select sound and audio devices, select sounds tab and test system sounds playback, if none work, then check input and output devices,

How can you set up stereo speakers on a computer?

I have a great pair of Bose stereo bookshelf speakers that I am not using right now, and I need better computer speakers. Any idea on how to use the Bose speakers on my computer?
I can’t do that, the only connection on the Bose speakers is "speaker wire", and I can’t plug that right into my computer.

If you mean the red and black wires.. then you cannot do it.

There is no simple adaptor.

And such speakers require some power, more than can be easily supplied by the audio out jack, which is suitable for earphones and small speakers only (very low volume). Or speakers with their own power source (which your Bose speakers are not).

I remember that creative used to sell a amplifier that plugged into the PC and you could connect Bose speakers to that. But it has probably gone out of style as high quality PC speakers have gotten really cheap.

I have two different computer speakers, one from my old one and one from my new computer, now i like sound so i want both speakers to be working at the same time, they are both going to be in front of me. So basicily i want to have both pairs of speakes run in stero or whatever, right in front of me. I have vista, the computer only uses one pair and i dont know how to get the other one working too, help?

You can probably find a mini stereo y-splitter to make it work.

One end has a mini stereo jack.
other end as 2 mini stereo holes for the speakers to plug into.

fair warning though, if the old speakers do not have their own power supply(ac plug), they might not work. old speakers took their power from the pc. new pc’s dont put out enough power to drive the speakers on their own..so need their own amplifier and power supply.

My computer speakers worked properly when I purchased my compueter, but now sound as though someone has messed with the equalizers, but we have not. The instrumental sound comes through great, but we can barely hear the vocals on every song. They sound so distant…HELP!

You need to get some external computer speakers – you cannot make your built in speakers any louder.

I’m trying to find if i can project my voice over my computer speakers (actually running through an amp to bigger speakers) using my built in computer microphones. Does anyone know of a program or any FREE software I can download to do this? Thanks a lot for your help!

Umm. You just get some soundstudio like software.

iMovie? Use IMovie…

This is something that you usually don’t want to do. It doesn’t always sound to good.
