How do I set up a surround sound system in an opening space?

Posted by admin on July 29th, 2010 and filed under sound system | 1 Comment »

What should i watch out or what are the tips to set up a sound system in an opening space? I have to use a mic to give a speech or something like that and I wan the voice concentrate in a specific area.

if you want the voice to concentrate in a specific area then only send voice signal to that speaker. To cause entire surround sound system to focus sound in one area is beyond consumer equipment. I use mediamatrix products to create focused sound and 3d effects. The instructions with the surround decoder are usually not bad so you may follow them.

Choosing a surround sound system please help?

Posted by admin on July 26th, 2010 and filed under sound system | 1 Comment »

well I’m planning on buying a surround sound system for my father. But I have no idea how to determine if a specific surround sound system is good or bad I’ve been looking in stores and online but I just don’t know how to compare. Like how to I know if the sound is good, it the system is good etc basic stuff I guess if you love electronics. basically can someone give me a little lesson on information on surround sound systems?
Thanks!
I plan on buying online or in stores not to sure.

out of personal experience the LG 5.1 bluray SS system (LHB953) is excellent clear highs and deep bass
+ the bluray is already there it also has netflix instant streaming capabilities ipod/iphone dock and youtube all built in
another is the panasonic 7.1 (SC-BT200 or 300) system it has the bluray and a good punch for theater sound I would stay away from bose theyre overrated
otherwise if you dont need the bluray denon or yamaha (5.1 or 7.1) receiver with polk audio or klipsch speaker package work reall nice

What speaker system should I get for an 8 channel sound card?

Posted by admin on July 20th, 2010 and filed under sound system | 2 Comments »

The motherboard I am purchasing has integrated sound that supports 8 channels (Realtek ALC850). The problem is that I cannot find a computer speaker system that supports 8 channel sound cards. I do not want a huge sound system, just one of those boxed computer kits. Please provide any SPECIFIC suggestions for an speaker system that supports 8 channel sound.

the sound card supports 8 channels but that doesn’t mean that you have to use all 8. if you don’t want a huge sound system then just get a 5.1 surround sound system that is in your budget…

Church sound system team needs a way to communicate with the actual singers and musicians during service.?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under sound system | 2 Comments »

Our sound system is set up in the back of the sanctuary. It’s in a little "booth". During service, myself and other singers/musicians need to let them know what the problem is. Sometimes we can’t hear ourselves in the platform speakers but only from the house speakers. What is a good way or a good solution to set up a form of communication from the sound booth to the platform and vice versa? I’ve noticed some churches use regular telephones and just call one another, but isn’t there something else more concealing? Any ideas are helpful!

This is a common problem in churches. The cell phone idea would work but if you have to place a call each time that might be akward. Plus there is a lot of sound on stage that might make it hard to hear the cell phone. It is worth a try.

The normal way this is done short of getting a dedicated intercom (which is possible if you have the money) is to set up a "talk back" mic at the board. Your board may have a connection for that already. If not, just connect a mic on an unused channel at the board and turn up the aux send (or sends) on that channel that you are using for the monitors. That way your voice will come through the monitors. You will need to be discrete when using this but it does work. Make sure that you don’t turn up the fader for the main speakers on that talk back channel. The best way for the musicians to communicate to you is just say something discretely through the mic between songs or work out hand signals i.e. point at instrument or vocal mic then point up or down.

Feel free to e-mail me if you need other help.
