What might cause my home stereo surround sound system to crackel?

Posted by admin on July 29th, 2010 and filed under surround | 2 Comments »

It has been hooked up with Bose speakers for several months. Suddenly it is crackling when you turn on the surround sound. It is a pioneer receiver.

Could be a loose connection. Check the connections at the receiver and at the speakers. Is it crackling out of all speakers or just one? if it’s all, then you may have a bad amp in the receiver.

How do home entertainment systems with surround sound work?

Posted by admin on July 23rd, 2010 and filed under surround | 4 Comments »

All I can find is that the system will work with dvd’s. If I buy one and hook it up will the surround sound work with my cable tv?? Is there something special I have to do to make it work with my cable tv. What should I look for in a home entertainment system when purchasing one.

You will get full functionality from the surround with DVD’s because they are MADE to use all the channels (particularly the rear ones). The rear usually providee the background sounds-not the conversations, but the sound of the person walking across the carpet. Cable TV is NOT mastered for surround, so you will not get all your system involved. But if you have good speakers, it will still sound good.

Should I install a tub surround or rip out my old ceramic tiles and replace them with new ones?

Posted by admin on July 20th, 2010 and filed under surround | 10 Comments »

I really want to make my bathroom look better. An thought I would either retile or install a tub surround. The old tile is original to my 53 year old house. Some of the tiles are broken and the whole thing looks terrible. I am not that handy but I could ask one of my brothers to help me do this project.

Have you thought about painting the tile?
I found this website:

How to do you get surround sound hitched up to your DVD player to work?

Posted by admin on July 17th, 2010 and filed under surround | 3 Comments »

The surround sound is already working for the tv, but we can’t get it to work for the dvd player which is a Panasonic.

You need to transfer the digital audio from the DVD player to your surround sound receiver. Depending on your DVD player, this is done either with a fibre optic line or a digital coaxial cable.
Most of the Panasonic players have both types of outputs.
The surround receiver will have an input labelled "Digital In" for this.
The audio coming from your TV is analog.

G20 Toronto- Police surround and attack small group of protesters at Queen and Spadina

Posted by admin on July 15th, 2010 and filed under surround | 25 Comments »

Warning: Violence and Language. This is footage I took on sunday june 27 at G20 in Toronto. My sister and I were participating in a peaceful protest march. Everyone was singing and chanting, but absolutely no violence, and no one wearing bandanas or throwing things. We marched west on queen street, but our progress was blocked at spadina avenue. We didnt realize until it was to late that we we’re divided from the main group and surrounded. By then it was to late. The cut I get over my left eye is from the unprovoked jab from a cops riot shield. What you dont see is the beating I got after they dragged me away…(no proof, other than pictures of bruises) We were detained for 6 hrs, without a phone call, denied a bathroom, NO CHARGES.

how do i connect 5 surround sound speakers to my laptop without having to buy an av reciever?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under surround | 3 Comments »

i have tried sound blaster surround 5.1 but no good doesnt have enough sockets for the speakers.

The audio output of a laptop does not have enough power to drive more than a pair of headphones or small computer speakers (a few watts max). If you don’t use a powered speaker you will simply damage your laptop.
