What kind of Tennis racket should I use?

Posted by admin on June 6th, 2010 and filed under tennis racket | 6 Comments »

I’m new to playing Tennis. I’m getting lessons three times a week form a local pro so I could play Tennis for my High School when school starts back up. I have been using my Grandfathers tennis racket and i think its time that I get my own. Any ideas on what kind of racket should I get?

Prince O3 White is a great racquet with a good blend of power and control. Has a nice weight and feels great. Babolat Pure Drive Standard may also be another racquet you want to consider. It is about the same as the O3 White. I much prefer Prince’s line of O3 racquets because it allows a fast swing speed… and it has a larger sweetspot. I hit a lot more decent shots with the O3 racquets than with other brands.

Before you buy, demo the racquets at Tennis Warehouse. They cost as little as $11.50 for two racquets, and you get to keep them for one week. The great thing about it is, you don’t have to pay for shipping when you return in back. The return label is included.

You may also want to ask you tennis instructor about which racquet fits your playing style best. He or she will give you recommendations and a lot of info.

What is the best type of tennis racket for a beginner?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under tennis racket | 9 Comments »

I don’t want a tennis racket that is expensive because I am still a beginner but I do want one that is good quality. I went to Wal-Mart(this was only because I wanted a cheap one–I’m not yet sure if I will want to continue) and had no clue to which type is considered good quality. What are certain things you look for in a good racket? Please help me out!

Try a few out in the store lol… I did. and decide which feels right. I had the same problem when I started and I too when to Wal Mart lol but like I said just try them out and pick the one that feels right

It shouldn’t be heavy it has to light to where you can swing it and it won’t your shoulder or what not also it has to hit good too lol (of course).

Also there different handles for me I like the ones with cushion. Also get the one where the Handel and racket part are a one piece because once I had one that wasn’t and it broke!

But just find one that’s for you and only you lol because I once tried my brothers racket (which is smaller and doesn’t have cushion – because I forgot mine) and I couldn’t play right at all… it was hard!!!

I would buy Wilson (one with a larger head) …thats what I have and LOVE!!!

But I hope you find one and good luck with tennis it a blast!!!

How long does it take to restring a tennis racket?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2010 and filed under tennis racket | 11 Comments »

I’m quite an avid player of tennis, i have a fairly expensive racket (cost me £100/$200) however the strings are close to breaking, all over the center of the racket small threads have come out of holes in the string – i’m guessing these are what make up the inside of the strings. I dont want to be without my racket for too long, so how long does it to take to restring the racket?

Its a Prince O3 Hybrid Hornet Oversize version.

Thanks in advance!

Last time I had my racquet restrung, I dropped it off Friday morning. I was told it would be ready Monday, but that afternoon they called me saying it was ready for pickup.

Stringing does not take very long. It can be done within an hour or 2. But at the stores, tell you that it takes 2 to 3 days dues to several reasons. The stringer may be out on his/her day off, they might have a back log of racquets to strings, their machine is in repair, etc.

Hope it helps. Good luck.

What is a good tour/competitive level tennis racket for an intermediate player?

Posted by admin on May 22nd, 2010 and filed under tennis racket | 3 Comments »

I played tennis on and off for several years but have a comfortable grasp of the game. The racket i had when i started lessons a lonnng time ago was a Head Prestige Intelligence MidPlus. I love the racket but I want something different after all these years. I don’t mind the weight of a racket so I’m not looking for a particularly light one. I also don’t mind classics (prostaff, Prince graphite classic) I hit with a semi-western, two hand backhand.

I would highly recommend the Head MicroGel with a string tension around 54. I have the 2008 version and it plays like an absolute charm. I haven’t tried the slight variations such as the pro weight or the Flexpoint version.
