my current stringing is wilson stamina spin 16 @ 55 lbs. i’m planning to have it strung with luxilon hybrids. any suggestion about which gauge and what tension for mains and crosses? please share. thanks.
i play mostly baselines and put spins to my strokes. you guessed correctly ![]()
and most of my swing is short to medium.
This question is difficult to answer without more information…such as what style of game you play (baseline or serve and volley). From your previous string type you probably hit with topspin on your shots although you don’t reveal that either. It would also be helpful to know if you have a long or a short swing.
With hybrids such as Luxilon the softer string should go in the crosses and be tensioned about 5 or 6 percent less than the mains. Your tension range now is low for the racquet you use (53 to 63 range) suggesting you like your strings softer for more feel.
I suggest tensioning the mains at 58 to 60 pounds and the crosses between 54 to 56 pounds. You will need some experimentation to get the feel that you prefer but it is very important to tension the crosses less than the mains.
As far as your gauge, if you have trouble with breaking strings frequently you will notice the main in your hybrid is probably a polyurethane which is very strong and will supply good power. 16 gauge is typical for your hybrid main. Your softer cross string will wear out faster and depending on cost factors you may want to go with a 16 gauge also. Most hybrids sell the softer main as a 17 gauge for better feel.
My hybrid sets last about 3 to 4 months, rotating 3 separate racquets, playing about 3 times a week. Hope this helps!

Tennis Racquet Stringing 1: Mounting The Racquet
This video shows how to mount a racquet on a Gamma X-2 Stringer. The procedure is quite similar to other simple two-point mounting machines.
This is my first attempt at making a video guide so do give your comments so that I can make a better revision. =)

Can you use a Wilson Shock Trap on a Wilson nCode N5 OS Tennis Racket?
So, I am probably just being paranoid but I just bought a brand new Wilson nCode N5 and along with that I bought a Wilson Shock Trap Shock Absorber. Now I am just wondering if I should have gotten the nCode Shock absorber, or if this one will work, even though it is really tight on the strings to the point of where it is hard to get on. Is it bad that it is putting pressure on the strings to the point where they move a little bit where I put the absorber on, or is it supposed to do that? Now was I even supposed to get anything other then the nCode shock absorber in the first place? Or is it O.K that I just got the normal Wilson Shock Trap for it. It’s an odd question but I don’t want something weird to happen to a $220 racket.
Thanks!
No, you can use whatever brand you want. It doesn’t matter at all. Shock absorbers dampen the feel of the vibrations when you hit the ball. Also, all dampeners are hard to get on. It’s like that with all rackets. Don’t worry, it won’t affect the strings at all. Do not worry if you break your strings, too. You get your rackets restrung for about 15 bucks, and it’s a good thing b/c it means you’re spinning the ball.

What is [K] Factor?
All [K] Factor racquets utilize Wilson’s proprietary next-generation [K]arophite Black structure which adds additional bonds between the SiO2 and graphite molecules on a nanoscopic scale, resulting in more feel and a stronger, more stable racquet. Overall, there are 4 new key [K] Factor technology concepts found in various configurations depending on the [K] Factor model:
[K]arophite Black-an evolution of Wilson nCode technology which utilizes a new structure incorporating additional bonds between the SiO2 and graphite molecules on a nanoscopic scale, resulting in more feel and a stronger, more stable racquet.
[K]onnector-2 external wings molded into each side of the hoop to increase dwell time of the ball upon impact, providing greater control and comfort.
[K]ontour Yoke-New frame cross-section shape that enhances stiffness at key stress points for improved torsional stability
[K]ompact Center-New shortened yoke design that improves handling, maneuverability, and provides additional feel.

What is the Wilson Ncode Nrage racquet?
I have this racquet, but i NEVER saw on the wilson website. Why is not it there, and how come its soooooo rare and unpopular. Thank you.
do not use wilson, they are very sub-standard.
they are not rare, rather common. they are unpopular because they are crap and brake easily. How ripped off would you feel if you paid a lot of money for a supposedly good racquet, and it was bad and broke.
I would reccomend the following brands: Prince, head, babolat, fischer, dunlop and possibly volkl, maybe power angle.
Stay away from: Prokennex, wilson, w line, avery, gamma, slazenger, technifibre and yonex.they are either sub-standard for hitting with, and wilsons are not only sub-standard but brake easily.
